Description
Hanger-03 is designed to elevate your wardrobe with both durability and intention. Born from frustration with flimsy, mass-produced hangers, it is crafted from Baltic birch plywood, ensuring strength even under the heaviest jackets. More than just a hanger, it challenges the culture of planned obsolescence in industrial design, standing as a testament to longevity, quality, and purposeful craftsmanship.
Design Process
The fabrication of Hanger-03 followed a structured design process, beginning with initial sketches to determine its form and how it would accommodate clothing. To refine the design, I observed various clothing hangers and collected measurement data to ensure proper functionality and proportions.
With a clear direction, I created a laser-cut file in Illustrator, preparing the design for fabrication. I then sourced ¼-inch Baltic birch plywood and used a laser cutter to precisely cut the hanger components. After cutting, I sanded the edges to remove the blackened and burred surfaces, then applied a routered edge to create a smooth, refined feel. For the final finish, I applied Danish oil, enhancing both the durability and aesthetic quality of the hanger.
